“As I see it, there are two kinds of people in this world; people who love delis, and people you shouldn’t associate with.” - Damon Runyon

In Houston, Texas, third-generation deli man Ziggy Gruber, grandson of the original owner of the Rialto Kosher Deli in Manhattan, has arguably built the finest delicatessen restaurant in the U.S. His life - augmented by the stories of iconic delis such as Katz's, 2nd Avenue Deli, Nate 'n Al, Carnegie, and the Stage - embodies a tradition indelibly linked to its savory, nostalgic foods. Noted personalities, such as Larry King, Jerry Stiller, and Alan Dershowitz, express their love for the deli food and culture. Once numbering in the thousands, now fewer than 150 authentic kosher delis remain in North America.
